1. Who We Are

CaloGen AI ("we", "us", or "our") is an iOS calorie tracking application. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our app (the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account via Sign in with Apple, we receive:

• Your Apple ID (unique identifier)
• Your name (if you choose to share it with the app)
• Your email address (if you choose to share it, or an Apple-generated relay address)

2.2 Profile & Health Data

To calculate your calorie targets, we ask for:

• Date of birth and gender
• Height and current weight
• Activity level and fitness goal
• Target weight and weekly goal

This data is stored in your account and is used exclusively to calculate your personalized daily calorie and macro targets. It is never shared with advertisers or third parties for marketing.

2.3 Food Logs

When you log a meal, we store:

• Food name, calories, and macronutrients (protein, carbs, fat, fiber)
• Meal type (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack) and timestamp
• Portion size and serving count
• The food photo (if you used the AI scan feature), stored in a private, access-controlled storage bucket

2.4 Weight Logs

If you log your weight, we store the weight value and timestamp in your account.

2.5 Device & Usage Data

We collect limited technical data to operate the service:

• Device type and iOS version
• App version
• Error logs and crash reports (to fix bugs)

We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or track your activity across other apps or websites.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data solely to provide and improve the Service:

• To operate the app: authenticate your account, display your food logs, calculate daily totals against your targets.
• To power AI scanning: food photos are temporarily processed by OpenAI's API to identify food items and estimate nutritional content. See Section 4 for details.
• To send notifications: if you enable meal reminders, we send push notifications to the device you registered. You can disable these in iOS Settings at any time.
• To process subscriptions: to verify your Premium status and manage access to premium features.
• To improve accuracy: aggregate (non-identifiable) usage patterns help us improve AI food recognition over time.

We do not use your health or food data for advertising, sell it to data brokers, or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

CaloGen AI relies on the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:

Supabase

We use Supabase to host our database, authentication system, and file storage. Your account data, food logs, and food photos are stored on Supabase infrastructure. Supabase is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant.

OpenAI

When you use the AI photo scan feature, the food photo is sent to OpenAI's API for visual analysis. OpenAI processes the image to identify food items and estimate nutritional values. Per OpenAI's API data usage policy, images submitted via the API are not used to train their models. Images are processed in memory and are not retained by OpenAI after the API call completes.

We cache the analysis result locally (indexed by a hash of the image) for 24 hours so that re-scanning the same meal does not require another API call or charge your quota again.

USDA FoodData Central

We query the USDA FoodData Central API to retrieve verified nutritional data for identified foods. This is a public US government database. No personally identifiable information is sent in these queries.

Apple

We use Sign in with Apple for authentication and Apple's in-app purchase system for Premium subscriptions. Apple's handling of your Apple ID and payment information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

5. Data Storage & Security

All data is stored in encrypted databases hosted on Supabase. Food photos are stored in a private storage bucket — they are not publicly accessible and require authentication to retrieve.

We use row-level security on all database tables so your data is only accessible by your authenticated account. No other user can access your food logs, weight logs, or photos.

While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no system is completely secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your Apple ID.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

Deleted food log entries are soft-deleted (marked as deleted) and are permanently removed during regular cleanup cycles.

Cached AI analysis results are automatically purged after 24 hours.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Correction: update inaccurate or incomplete data (most data can be edited directly in the app).
• Deletion: request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Portability: request an export of your food logs and health data in a machine-readable format.
• Objection: object to certain types of data processing.

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Children's Privacy

CaloGen AI is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us immediately at info@fatherofweb.com.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you via a notice in the app or by email. Continued use of the app after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
